The world's largest in-water boat show, run since 1961 by the Marine Industries Association of South Florida across more than three million square feet of exhibit space at Bahia Mar and other waterfront sites in Fort Lauderdale. The five-day show draws over 100,000 attendees and more than 1,300 boats from exhibitors representing over 90 countries. It underscores Fort Lauderdale's identity as the yachting capital of the world.
The history within reach

College swimmers had wintered here since the 1930s, but the 1960 film Where the Boys Are, shot at this corner bar and the beach outside it, turned Fort Lauderdale into the national headquarters of spring break: 50,000 students a year, then 350,000.
