Corpus Christi's biggest annual celebration fills downtown for more than a week each spring with a rodeo, a carnival, live concerts, and the Buccaneer Days parade that gives the festival its name. It commemorates the 1519 landing of Spanish explorer Alonso Alvarez de Pineda and has run since 1938. The rodeo portion draws PRCA competitors from across the region.
