The Aiken Fall Steeplechase closes out the National Steeplechase Association's season with seven races, crowning the year's champion horse, trainer and rider. The infield adds hound parades, corgi races and a hat contest alongside the racing. It is the second of Aiken's two annual steeplechase meets, run since the 1990s.

James Brown grew up poor in Augusta, shining shoes and dancing for change on Ninth Street, and the city he left came to define him: he kept an office here, gave out turkeys and toys every year, and the arena and a Broad Street statue carry his name.
