On March 6, 1978, during a lunch break in his obscenity trial, Hustler publisher Larry Flynt and his lawyer Gene Reeves were walking back to the Gwinnett County Courthouse when a sniper across the street shot them both on the sidewalk in front of 136 South Perry Street. Flynt was paralysed from the waist down for the rest of his life. Reeves recovered and later became a judge. The white supremacist serial killer Joseph Paul Franklin confessed years later, saying an interracial photo spread in the magazine was his motive. Georgia indicted him but never tried him. Missouri executed him in 2013 for a different murder, over Flynt's public objection.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
