The Unabomber's cabin site
Stemple Pass Road, Lincoln, Montana
Ted Kaczynski built a ten by twelve foot plywood cabin on 1.4 acres up this road in 1971, no electricity, no water, and from it mailed sixteen bombs over seventeen years that killed three people and injured twenty-three. His brother recognised the prose when the manifesto ran in the Washington Post, and FBI agents walked him out of the door on April 3, 1996. The cabin is gone: the government lifted it off the lot whole as evidence, and it sits today in storage at FBI headquarters in Washington. The land is private again, listed for sale in 2010 and bought and built on since, so this pin marks the stretch of Stemple Pass Road about five miles south of town, not the parcel.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
