The Unabomber's cabin, in FBI storage
FBI headquarters, 935 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, D.C.
The whole cabin, ten feet by twelve, was lifted off its Montana lot in 1996, trucked to Sacramento for a trial that never happened, and spent 2008 to 2019 on show at the Newseum a few blocks down Pennsylvania Avenue. When the museum closed the FBI, which owns it, took it back and rebuilt it inside headquarters, where it stands in a storage room that only the bureau's curator enters, to clean it; agents say it still smells. The FBI's historian says it will not move again until a permanent home is chosen, so the most famous shack in America is a few hundred yards from the museum that showed it, and nobody can see it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
