The Tacoma Mausoleum, the first one built west of the Mississippi
1910
Tacoma, Washington
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Built in 1910, this was the first structure of its kind in the country west of the Mississippi River. Neighbours sued in 1918 to stop it expanding, arguing that a building full of the dead next to houses was a nuisance in itself, and the Washington Supreme Court ruled against them. It went on the National Register in 2000.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
