John Eberson designed the 1,100 seat Silver Theatre for Warner Brothers in 1938. It closed in 1985 and stood empty until restoration began in 2001. The American Film Institute now runs three screens in the building and programs upward of 600 films a year, from first run features to archival prints nobody else shows.
