The Purple Hotel and the killing of Allen Dorfman

Hyatt's first Midwest hotel opened here in 1962, wrapped in glazed purple brick that gave it the name everyone actually used. On 20 January 1983 Allen Dorfman, the Teamsters pension fund consultant convicted a month earlier of conspiring to bribe a US senator, was shot dead in the parking lot three days before his sentencing. The case was never solved. The hotel closed in 2007 and was torn down in 2013, weeks after it made the National Register.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
