The Printzhof, the seat of New Sweden's governor
1643
Essington, Pennsylvania
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Johan Bjornsson Printz governed the Swedish colony on the Delaware from a house on Tinicum Island, the first European seat of government on ground that later became Pennsylvania. The site is now Governor Printz Park in Essington, hard against the airport and the refineries. Sweden held this stretch of the river for barely seventeen years before the Dutch took it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
