The Missouri Breaks
2001
Central Montana
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
A stretch of the Missouri that looks essentially as Lewis and Clark described it, white cliffs, badlands and no roads for 149 miles. Homesteaders tried this country after 1909 and almost all of them failed. Their cabins are still standing empty.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
