The Mifflin Street Block Party

It started in 1969 as a political protest in a student neighbourhood off Bassett Street and turned, over decades, into the thing students do on the last Saturday in April before exams: bands on porches, the whole block outside. The city stopped sponsoring it in 2012 and has repeatedly tried to replace it with something official, which has never once worked.
