The Head of the Charles, the biggest regatta in the world
1965

Three Cambridge Boat Club members started a head race on the Charles in 1965, borrowing the format from the English rivers where crews start at intervals and race the clock. It is now the largest three day regatta anywhere, about 11,000 rowers in more than 2,500 boats across 73 events. The bends under the bridges are the reason coxswains fear it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
