The Great Chelsea fire of 1908 leaves 15,000 people homeless

On 12 April 1908 a fire driven by high winds tore across 350 acres of Chelsea and killed nineteen people. It burned out the business district and left about 15,000 residents without homes, in a city of roughly 34,000. Chelsea rebuilt its whole civic centre in the years that followed, which is why so little of the city predates 1909.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
