The British attack St. Michaels
1813
St. Michaels, Maryland
On 10 August 1813 British forces attacked St. Michaels to destroy the shipyards building fast schooners for the Americans. They took the battery at Parrott Point but were driven back by the militia's guns without an American death, and a second British attack on 26 August also pulled back. Local tradition says the townspeople hung lanterns high in the trees so the British aimed too high; the official reports do not mention it. One house, now called the Cannonball House, was hit.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
