The Beatles play Ed Sullivan live from the Deauville Hotel
1964
Miami Beach, Florida
On February 16, 1964, a week after their American debut, the Beatles made their second Ed Sullivan Show appearance from a ballroom at the Deauville, broadcast live from Miami Beach instead of New York. The hotel itself was a 1957 Melvin Grossman design in the Miami Modern style that lined this stretch of Collins Avenue. It closed after an electrical fire in 2017, sat decaying while the city fined its owners, and was imploded in 2022.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
