Just after midnight on March 3, 2020 an EF3 tornado crossed Nashville from west to east on a sixty mile track, through North Nashville and Germantown, over the river into East Nashville and on toward Mount Juliet. It killed five people along its path and did more than a billion dollars of damage. Here on Woodland Street it tore apart most of the Basement East music venue, but the end wall with its I Believe in Nashville mural was left standing, and the picture went round the country. The venue was rebuilt.
