Ports O' Call Village, a fake seaside town that lasted 57 years
1963
San Pedro, California
Fifteen acres of cobblestone lanes and gift shops opened along the main channel in 1963, mixing New England clapboard, Spanish Colonial and vaguely Asian rooflines with no logic beyond the mood. Generations of Angelenos ate fried fish there on plastic trays. The port cleared it in 2020 for a waterfront redevelopment.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
