Converts from the Cane Ridge revivals formed a celibate community that grew to five hundred people and three thousand acres, farming with a precision their neighbours copied and selling seed and brooms across the South. Thirty-four original buildings survive, including a meeting house with twin doors so men and women entered separately and a staircase that spirals unsupported for three floors.
