Moab and the uranium boom
1952
Moab, Utah
Quintin Soloviev · CC BY 4.0 · Wikimedia Commons
Charlie Steen found a uranium deposit after being written off by every geologist he consulted, and a town of 1,200 grew past 6,000 in three years as prospectors flooded the canyons. The tailings pile beside the Colorado is still being moved, truckload by truckload, thirty miles upriver.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
