Mesa residents approved a ballot measure to pay for a new spring training park rather than lose the Chicago Cubs to another city. It opened in 2014 with the playing field laid out to match the dimensions of Wrigley Field, so the team practises on the same shape it plays on in April. The Arizona League Cubs and the Mesa Solar Sox use it the rest of the year.
