Lolaville, a town that ended as a roadside fruit stand

Lolaville sat on the Collin County prairie between what are now Plano and Frisco, and was named for Lola Kelsey Dunafan. It did well in the early years of the twentieth century and had almost vanished by the late 1950s, when State Highway 121 was laid through the middle of it. Road widening took the last houses, leaving one fruit stand with the town's name on a sign, and that went in the 1990s when the land was redeveloped.
