Walton grew up in Beaver Falls, coached the New York Jets for seven seasons, then took a job in 1993 starting a football program that did not exist yet at Robert Morris. He recruited the players, hired the staff and bought the equipment himself, and the team took the field in 1994. He coached there for two decades, and the 3,000 seat stadium in Moon Township carries his name.
