Hunts Point Palace, the Bronx's mambo ballroom

Hunts Point, the Bronx
James F. Meehan built the hall at 953 Southern Boulevard in 1913, with lodge rooms, banquet halls and a ballroom roughly 140 feet square. Jewish, Irish and Italian Hunts Point danced there first. By the 1950s it was a Latin music room that rivalled the Palladium downtown, with Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez, Machito and Eddie Palmieri on the bandstand.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
