Harvard, the Milk Capital of the World

The town declared itself the Milk Capital of the World for what its dairies sent out during the Second World War, and has thrown Milk Days on the first weekend of June ever since, which makes it one of the longest-running festivals in Illinois. The mascot is a fibreglass cow called Harmilda who stands five feet tall in the middle of town and who has been hit by cars, moved, restored and fought over more than any cow needs to be.
