Hanford makes the plutonium for Nagasaki
1943
Benton County, Washington
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
The Manhattan Project took 600 square miles of sagebrush for the world's first full-scale plutonium reactor, evacuating two towns and Wanapum fishing grounds. The plutonium in the Trinity test and the Nagasaki bomb was made here. It is now the most contaminated site in the Western Hemisphere and its cleanup runs past 2060.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
