Grendel's Den beats the churches at the Supreme Court

A Massachusetts blue law let any church or school within 500 feet veto a liquor licence, and a neighbouring parish used it to block this basement restaurant off Harvard Square. Grendel's Den fought the veto all the way up and won in 1982. Larkin v. Grendel's Den still stands as the case that stopped a state from handing government power to a church.
