Funks Grove and the maple sirup spelled wrong on purpose
1891
Funks Grove, McLean County, Illinois
Ron Frazier · CC BY-SA 2.0 · Wikimedia Commons
Five generations have tapped the same hard maples beside Route 66, and they spell it sirup because that was the older spelling for the pure product with nothing added. Good years and bad years both sell out. The grove itself is one of the last big stands of virgin timber left on the Illinois prairie.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
