Six levels of Spanish fortification on the headland, begun in 1539 and worked on for nearly 250 years. It held off Francis Drake in 1595 and a Dutch siege in 1625, fell to the English for a few months in 1598, and took American shelling in 1898. The lawn in front of it is now where San Juan flies kites.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
