Eight thousand pines spell STUDEBAKER
1938
Bendix Woods, New Carlisle, Indiana
At the edge of its proving ground the company planted pine trees in the shape of its own name, half a mile of letters legible only from the air, as an advertisement to the pilots overhead and a windbreak for the test track. The company is gone and the trees are not. It is one of the largest living signs in the world and it is still growing.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
