Eatonton, Br'er Rabbit and The Color Purple

One small Georgia town produced both Joel Chandler Harris, who took the Br'er Rabbit stories he heard from enslaved storytellers and made a fortune retelling them, and Alice Walker, born to sharecroppers outside town in 1944, who won the Pulitzer for The Color Purple. The town keeps an Uncle Remus museum and a Br'er Rabbit statue on the courthouse lawn, and the distance between its two writers is the whole story of the place.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
