Gygax's family moved here in 1946 after trouble with a Chicago street gang, and he spent the rest of his life in the town. He founded a wargaming convention here in the sixties, started a company called Tactical Studies Rules out of it in 1973 with a childhood friend, and the next year published a game he and Dave Arneson had built where you played one person instead of an army. Every role-playing game since is downstream of it, and gamers still come back to Lake Geneva every March for a convention held in his memory.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
