Dia Beacon fills a Nabisco box factory
Beacon, New York

A printing plant where Nabisco made cardboard boxes was converted into 240,000 square feet of gallery lit almost entirely by north-facing sawtooth skylights, so the work is seen by daylight and closes when the light goes. It holds minimalist and land art at the scale it was made for, Richard Serra's steel ellipses, Walter De Maria, Agnes Martin, and turned a town with a boarded main street into a destination.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
