Cheney Stadium goes up in a hundred days to land a Giants farm club
1960
Tacoma, Washington
The San Francisco Giants agreed to move their top farm club to Tacoma if the city could have a ballpark ready for the 1960 season, so Tacoma built one from council approval to opening day in about a hundred days. The wooden seats and the light towers were barged up from Seals Stadium in San Francisco, which had just been demolished. The Tacoma Giants played the first game there on 16 April 1960, and the Rainiers play there still.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
