Butcher Hollow and Loretta Lynn
1932
Van Lear, Kentucky
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
She was born in a coal camp cabin papered with newspaper and catalogue pages, married at fifteen, had four children by twenty, and was given a guitar by her husband at twenty-four. Coal Miner's Daughter describes this hollow directly. Her sister Crystal Gayle grew up in the same family, and the house still stands with the newspaper on the walls.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
