Bent's Old Fort
1833
Otero County, Colorado
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
An adobe trading post on the Santa Fe Trail and effectively the only settlement between Missouri and Mexican New Mexico. Cheyenne and Arapaho camped outside to trade robes. William Bent married into the Cheyenne, and blew the fort up himself in 1849 rather than sell it cheap to the army.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
