The park opened in November 2015 under the highway ramps by the Zakim Bridge, on land the Big Dig had used for staging. Sculptor Nancy Schon backed the project after watching skateboarders with nowhere else to practise take to her tortoise and hare figures in Copley Square. The state parks department runs it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
