Wild Chicken Festival
Downtown Fitzgerald, Fitzgerald, GA
Fitzgerald's downtown streets close each March for a festival built around the town's free roaming Burmese chickens, descendants of birds the state stocked as game fowl in the 1960s. Now more than a decade running, the event features a hot wing eating contest, a petting zoo, and vendor booths along Main Street. Locals treat the wild chickens themselves as a point of civic pride.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
