San Jacinto Day Festival and Battle Reenactment
San Jacinto Battleground / San Jacinto Monument, La Porte, TX
Each spring, re-enactors in 1836 dress restage the Battle of San Jacinto twice in one day on the actual battlefield beside the San Jacinto Monument, commemorating the eighteen minute fight that won Texas independence. The San Jacinto Museum and the Texas Historical Commission have staged the commemoration for decades, with a living history camp, weapons demonstrations and food vendors around the reenactment. It falls on the Saturday nearest April 21 every year.
