Heikinpäivä
Finlandia University area, downtown Hancock, Hancock, MI
Heikinpaiva marks the midpoint of winter in this Finnish-American mining town with a whimsical parade, a wife-carrying contest, and kicksled races through downtown Hancock. Founded in 1999 by Finlandia University's Finnish Theme Committee, it is timed to the Finnish folk holiday of Heikki's Day in mid-to-late January.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
