Galveston Mardi Gras
The Strand Historic District, Galveston, TX
Galveston's Mardi Gras runs more than twenty parades across two weekends through the cast iron storefronts of the Strand, and is the third largest celebration of the holiday in the country. The island first marked Mardi Gras in 1867 and revived the modern festival in 1985. It draws over three hundred thousand people, closing with the Fat Tuesday parade downtown.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
