Charlie Parker Jazz Festival
Tompkins Square Park and Marcus Garvey Park, New York, NY
A free jazz festival presented by City Parks Foundation since 1993, honoring saxophonist Charlie Parker in the East Village and Harlem neighborhoods where he lived and played. The three day festival runs concerts at Marcus Garvey Park and closes at Tompkins Square Park, near Parker's former home. It has grown into one of the city's marquee free jazz events.
