Hitching Post II, Buellton, California
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
The steakhouse where two middle-aged men drink through the Santa Ynez wine country, and one of them delivers a speech about pinot noir that reads as a speech about himself, is a real restaurant with its own real wine label. The film sent Central Coast pinot sales up and merlot sales down, on the strength of one profane line, and the Hitching Post has dined out on it since.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
