Born in Mount Olive and sent to Alcorn State because it was the school that would let him play quarterback rather than move him to defensive back. He threw for so much there that he finished third in the 1994 Heisman voting, and went third overall in the 1995 draft, the highest a Black quarterback had ever been taken. Thirteen seasons, a share of the league's MVP award in 2003, and a Super Bowl that ended with his receiver tackled one yard short of tying it. He was shot dead in Nashville in 2009, aged thirty six.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
