UChicago's Scav Hunt began in 1987 as a student study break distraction and has grown into a four day scavenger hunt with several hundred items, ending each year on Mother's Day. Past challenges have included building a working nuclear reactor. It held the Guinness World Record for largest scavenger hunt from 2011 to 2014.
