A procession from Mariachi Plaza winds through Boyle Heights to a block party outside Self Help Graphics own building on Anderson Street, with Aztec dancers, altars, and live music. Self Help Graphics has organized the celebration since 1972, and arts historians credit it with helping establish the modern Dia de los Muertos tradition in the United States. The 2026 celebration moves off its usual East LA Civic Center Park site while the organization's building undergoes renovation.
