Greenfield has celebrated hometown poet James Whitcomb Riley's birthday every October since the 1910s. The four day festival fills the historic courthouse square with a flower-covered parade, poetry and baking contests, midway rides, and a juried art show. It remains one of Hancock County's largest annual gatherings.
