Up to seventy barbecue teams compete for best whole hog on the first weekend of November in Ridgeway, a town of a few hundred people. Friday is a no barbecue cook-off called No Pigs Allowed, and Saturday is the main barbecue sale, feeding several thousand visitors. The festival began in 1999 during the town's bicentennial and now funds the volunteer fire department.
