Nashville is home to the largest Kurdish community in the United States, and each spring that community gathers for Newroz, the Kurdish new year, with traditional dress, dancing, and a bonfire the celebration is built around. The gathering grew too large for its original home at Edwin Warner Park and now fills the James E. Ward Agricultural Center in Lebanon. The Tennessee Kurdish Community Council has organized it for decades.
