Bell County has crowned a festival queen every Memorial Day weekend since 1931, when the celebration began to honor explorer Thomas Walker and the region's namesake laurel blooms. The four days bring a Gala Parade through downtown Pineville, a coronation at the Laurel Cove Amphitheater, and the decades-old Grand March dance taught fresh to college students each year. It is one of Kentucky's oldest continuously run festivals. The 2027 dates above are approximate, based on the festival's Memorial Day weekend pattern.
